CloudFlare Platinum CDN Features

Well, you understood the CloudFlare Platinum plan but you still don’t know about the services the Platinum plan offers, right? So I will make you clear about the features of CloudFlare platinum plan that I use on this site with hosting partner.

Before to walk you through the features I want to say that CloudFlare Platinum plan is a combination of two plans (Pro and Business Plans) so if you purchase this plan you can get both the features of Pro and Business plans and that is a great deal for boosting up your website’s performances.

Worldwide CDN (76 data centers): CloudFlare’s data centers are located across the globe and that make your site fast for your visitors no matter where they are.

Intelligent Threat Protection: Block known malicious threats from accessing your site. Security level is customizable site by site.

Rocket Loader (Web Optimization): Rocket Loader™ automatically asynchronously loads your JavaScript resources, resulting in faster page rendering. Rocket Loader™ handles both inline and external scripts, while maintaining order of execution. In manual mode, you designate which scripts Rocket Loader™ loads asynchronously. CloudFlare will detect incompatible browsers and disable Rocket Loader™. Websites that have a lot of ads and other JavaScript widgets will benefit the most from Rocket Loader™. It requires JavaScript.

Auto Minify: On-the-fly removal of unnecessary characters from HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It saves 20% of a file’s sizes and works without caching so it can support even fully dynamic pages. The results are smaller scripts and faster load times.

IPv6 Support: Support both IPv4 and IPv6 connections to your site without a single change to your existing infrastructure.

Performance/Security Stats: Insight into all of your visitors, including search engine crawlers and threats which may be missed by other analytics services. Statistics include requests, bandwidth saved and other operational metrics.

Page Specific Settings/Rules: Set up edge network forwarding, extend or exclude caching, require SSL connections, and generally exercise fine-grained control over how CloudFlare interacts with your site on a page-by-page basis.

*SPDY: SPDY is a modification to HTTP to reduce latency and increase security. CloudFlare provides automatic SPDY coverage for your visitors.

*Mirage Image Resizing: Automatically resize images based on the visitor’s device and how the image is used on the page. It requires JavaScript.

*Mirage Lazy Loader: Automatically turns all images into load-on-demand. Images on your site are not loaded until the visitor scrolls to their location.

*Polish (Image Compression): Polish automatically applies both “lossless” and “lossy” image optimization to remove unnecessary bytes from images. On average, image sizes are reduced by 35%. It also strips metadata and compresses your images for faster page load times.

Basic (Lossless): Reduce the size of PNG, JPEG, and GIF files – no impact on visual quality.

High (Lossy): Further reduce the size of JPEG files for faster image loading.

Larger JPEGs are converted to progressive images, loading a lower-resolution image first and ending in a higher-resolution version. It is not recommended for hi-res photography sites.

*SSL Support (HTTPS): CloudFlare is compatible with your existing SSL configuration. If you do not currently use SSL, CloudFlare can provide you with SSL capability—no configuration required.

*SSL Optimization: HTTPs has the reputation for being slow. CloudFlare optimizes the SSL connection to ensure a fast HTTPs experience for your visitors.

*Automatic Mobile Optimization: It detects the browser type of a visitor and optimizes performance for the particular devices.

*Priority Server Processing: If there is ever a influx of traffic to the CloudFlare server, your requests automatically take priority over those requested from a CloudFlare Basic configured domain.

*Railgun™: CloudFlare’s Railgun technology greatly speeds up the delivery of non-cached pages. While CloudFlare automatically caches about 65% of the resources needed to make up a page, 35% can’t be cached because the resources are dynamically generated or marked as “do not cache”. That 35% is often the initial HTML of the page that must be downloaded first. CloudFlare Railgun speeds up this remaining 35%.

Platinum plan is powered by very special and remarkable features that CloudFlare integrates with its two other paid plans (Pro, Business plans) and comes with very reduced subscription budget that is affordable for anyone in online marketing space.

Let me know your thoughts about CloudFlare platinum services.

Case Studies are shared record times ever on the web than generic blog posts or articles. Every content writer wants to make his/her blog post more promising and authoritative in the industry he/she is working about. To create a case-study you must have your own resources of working and you must copyright all the materials you used in your presentations.

Today I have organized a case study on one of my projects I created 4 months ago. My project was to create a micro niche site with exact match domain and ranked it higher for the targeted keywords in Google search engine.

Now I will represent the whole things I planned, executed and achieved in very shorter time frame.

Let’s get started…

What is an Exact Match Domain (EMD)?

Exact Match Domain is a specific domain name that exactly matches a search keyword tends to rank higher for that keyword on search engines more rapidly than Partial Match or any other Domain name. In the competition of search engine ranking, marketers and website owners apply all the possible SEM (Search Engine Marketing) practices to promote their brands and generate sales. Exact Match Domain is the oldest but still an effective SEM practice to rank a website higher for specific search term to promote products and services in a specific industry.

Getting Ideas of Exact Match Domain (EMD) for Micro Niche

Micro niche website is the latest trend of online marketers to create industry based website or blog and drive very potential traffic that can be easily converted by means of various marketing approaches and add up extra income to their existing earning sources. Exact Match Domain can be used to create micro niche site on exactly matched search keywords that include optimum monthly search volume and bring up possible organic search traffic that converts the best.

In this case study of building micro niche site with Exact Match Domain I have chosen a specific industry to work with, an exact match domain to influence my website’s search ranking, and published very useful content that add up enough value to both visitors and search engines.

Micro niche site with exact match domain
Micro niche site with exact match domain

I will walk you through all the procedures I adopted to build a micro niche site with an exact match domain, ranked for the specific keyword, driven very potential traffic and generated sales for the products I promoted.

Finding out the Right Products to Promote

I had a great passion to build my sites on WordPress and promote products in WordPress industry. Keeping this idea in mind I started buying few WordPress related products (Themes, Plugins, CDN services etc.) from trusted brands online and used them on many of my sites and examined the quality of each product I bought and compared them with other products I also used.

From rest of the products I used I found that they’re all great in usefulness, quality and performances.

I have chosen one product that is almost a powerful product in WordPress themes industry named “Divi Theme” a drag and drop WordPress page builder theme created and developed by Elegant Themes.

Divi Theme is a super useful WordPress page builder theme that allows users to create any page in minutes without having any web development skill or any programming knowledge.

I have used this theme to create and develop my other WordPress sites with much less effort so I decided this theme can be a perfect solution for any WordPress newbie to startup their online business even though they’re not savvy enough in WordPress and don’t have web design and development skills.

My idea about Divi Theme was exactly to promote it via a micro niche site but I was confused enough about the domain name I should choose.

I googled about “Exact Match Domain” phrase and read many tutorials to understand all the dos, and don’ts playing with EMD.

Many SEO gurus reflected negatively with the perspectives on exact match websites regarding Google penalties in major cases, though few people reflected positively on behalf of Exact match websites emphasizing on creating quality content, avoiding black hat seo practices, designing professional look website with simple navigation and reducing keyword density that shouldn’t exceed 1.25% that is optimum for all keywords.

So I was confident enough about the site I wanted to build on Exact Match Domain name and create a micro niche site to promote the product definitely with highly valued content.

My next step was to search for long tail keywords that will help my site to rank better and faster.

Long Tail Keyword Research

To get ideas about Long tail keywords I head over Google Keyword Planner and typed “Divi theme” in the search box and hit “Get ideas” button

Rather choosing random wise keywords on “Keyword ideas” section I prioritized on “Ad group ideas” section to find more relevant exact match terms

I focused on four relevant keywords on the prime keyword “Divi Theme”

  • Divi theme (18,000 monthly searches)
  • Divi demo (880 monthly searches)
  • Divi theme demo (880 monthly searches)
  • Divi themes (880 monthly searches)
Ad group keyword Divi Theme
Ad group keyword Divi Theme

From the above search keywords “Divi theme” has the highest monthly search volume than other terms but this term looks very complex to create an identical micro niche site so I avoided this term and focused on another similar keyword “Divi theme demo”

Whilst I can’t create a micro niche site on term “Divi Theme” but it’s quite possible to create a niche site on “Divi Theme demo” since a user can easily understand the subject matter about the site and would be interested to visit the site to search for content he/she needs.

Again if I can rank for “Divi theme demo” on Google search results it’s highly potential to also rank on the prime keyword “Divi theme” so that I can gain more organic search traffic and expedite promotions to make more money.

Now my next step is to build a website on WordPress and definitely I will choose Divi theme to build this website as well.

Building Website with WordPress & Divi Theme

All of my WordPress sites are hosted on and the reason I chosen this service they’re simply indomitable providing better hosting for WordPress in addition they provide all the essential supports to run online businesses without any hassle.

I have installed WordPress on following the processes I have written on this tutorial so you can follow it if you need to know “How to install WordPress on” as a beginner.

After installing WordPress on I logged in my site felt I have a lot of tasks left to create a professional look, real and valuable resource site on the product Divi Theme.

I installed required plugins like Yoast SEO, iThemes Security, BackupBuddy, Breadcrumb NavXT, Monarch plugins etc.

Then I installed Divi Theme, Divi builder and other associated plugins from Elegant Themes to boost performances of Divi theme on my site.

When my site is ready for SEO, design, and navigation optimizations I starting writing content in the industry I chose and wrote about 50 articles mostly on tutorials basis.

I have also written a complete product review article on “Divi Theme” so that if users need to get the entire features to know about Divi Theme they will read the product review article rather going through the specific tutorials.

It took me about 10 days to prepare the whole site before it’s ready to publish on the web. After creating the site I reviewed the entire site to find out the possible flaws that can interrupt in providing better user experiences and search engine ranking.

To my point of view I found nothing error after reviewing the whole site about 10 times in many respects like content optimization, search engine optimization, design layout, navigation optimization and landing page optimization etc. processes.

Finally I submitted the site to Google and other search engines like Bing, Yahoo!, Yandex, and Baidu search engines.

Building Some Manual Authority Backlinks

I don’t prefer building links manually I swear, rather I focus on creating better content that can drive me highly valuable and authority links that flow link juice.  But, in many cases I hire experts to do building quality links if I think I can get work done with the most possible safe way that won’t harm my organic search ranking.

Fiverr is a great place to search for highly experienced and professional gigs who can make your work done only for $5 (really very cheap value) but you can get quality work done if you hire the right gig based on your order.

My aim was to drive authority links (PR7, PR8, PR9) to my Root domain so that my website can rank higher on the targeted keywords so quickly.

I hired this gig on Fiverr and the gig created 20 high authority profile links on some top sites: Mozilla, Apple, Amazon, Mit, Drupal, CNN, Microsoft and other authority sites on the web.

After getting my prepared links I did not submit them to Google and other search engines immediately but I stayed few days until I receive natural backlinks from other sites. After a week later I submitted few links to Google, Bing, Yahoo! and entire links got submitted during a whole month.

The reason I did not submit them instantly that search engines may consider those links as spammy links and my site might be negatively affected on organic search ranking.

Results of 15 Days Work Done

Now it’s time to disclose what I have achieved in 15 days of work as you may be excited to know about it. My tasks were bounded to building a new micro niche site on a specific industry that I better know so that I can create an authority over that project and make people understand the theme of my site all about.

Now I will display statistics about my site’s organic search ranking, search keywords, keyword value, and traffic and income reports.

Organic Search Ranking

I was really pleased with the achievements of my site regarding organic search ranking positions in Google SERPs.

My site is ranked #3 on Google search results pages for the term “Divi Theme Demo”

google search results for EMD
google search results for EMD

And for the prime keyword “Divi Theme” it is ranked #9 (which is gradually increasing in period)

google search results for PMD
google search results for PMD

There are so many authority sites are ranked on 1st, 2nd, 3rd…. positions on Google search results for the term “Divi Theme” which is very competitive keyword so I think it’s quite difficult to rank them down so early. But if I work continuously on my site basically in building high quality content then I will definitely get better ranking in coming months.

Organic Search Keywords

The organic search keywords report looks much promising to me as my site is receiving traffic for the search terms I wanted it to rank and I have noticed that search ranking for prime keyword “Divi theme” is gradually increasing which is a strong positive sign of gaining more organic traffic in future than I receive today.

So I’m really happy with this search analytics report.

Keywords Value (CPC)

Normally a 3/4 months old site can’t claim highly estimated traffic value but if your site is focused on a specific industry (valuable industry) then you can have better valued traffic cost. My industry was WordPress themes industry so I was confident enough that the traffic value of my site will be much potential.

The CPC value of few keywords are suggested below

Income Report

Sharing income report from website has been a tradition to most bloggers who are professional and well-known to their industry. It’s really wonderful experience to share your own website income report to visitors who can be inspired enough from your achievements and can apply the same formula you used to gain success in your race.

Here I want to share a small version of income report of my site I built 3 months ago basically having a great passion to start micro niche site on Exact match domain and earned few money in a period of 45 days after starting my promotional campaigns.

The following chart displays that I have made 4 sales (worth $178.00 USD) from 1800+ visitors and 839 unique visits. Total conversion rate looks very pessimistic (0.110%) but I hope the rate will increase in period. I’m now a level 1 seller and making money on Pay-Per-Sale commission with Elegant Themes affiliate program.

The Summary

I tried to share a case study about a small project I created 3 months ago on micro niche site with exact match domain and ranked higher for the targeted keywords in Google search results within very shorter period. Now I will summarize everything I done to create my project.

My objective was to understand the difficulties of organic search ranking for a site in specific industry.

I chose WordPress themes industry to create my project and preferred Divi Theme as my target product to promote.

I chose WordPress to create my site and hosted it on (Shared hosting plan)

The entire site was designed with Divi Theme and optimized for SEO

About 50+ articles were written on Divi theme and each article was individually optimized for SEO

After completing all the primary tasks the entire site was submitted to Google, Bing, Yahoo! and other top search engines

In a period of 45 days my site was ranked higher on Google search engine for the targeted keywords

My site received better organic search traffic in shorter period also received few sales that are quite optimistic

My point of view on working with “Exact Match Domain” is very positive and I recommend people to work safely if you prefer EMD to build your micro niche site.

Does your site get lots of Not found pages (404 error status) in Google search console’s crawl errors section? Then you have to be ready to deal with your 404 error pages and bring your readers back to the new URLs from old URLs that you may have removed or changed permalink structure in a certain period.

301 redirects is the best and recommended URL redirection process to transfer both traffic and search engine from non-existing page to existing page within your website. There are many ways you can create 301 redirects in your WordPress site such as using plugins and writing redirection code on .htaccess file that resides in your WordPress root directory.

Writing on .htaccess file is much crucial and risky task than using plugin but for tutorial purpose I will show you both procedures.

So get started with WordPress redirection method.

URL Redirection

Redirection is a mean of transferring a user and search engine from old URL to new URL using different types of redirection methods like 301 redirects, 302 redirects and meta refresh.

From the above three types of redirects 301 redirects is the best and recommended practice for SEO as it passes between 90-99% of link juice (ranking power) to the redirected page and increase your site’s organic search ranking positions.

302 Redirect is a temporary redirection process that is not recommended for SEO and webmasters should avoid this redirection method as it can interrupt robots to crawl URLs and hurt your organic search ranking.

Meta refresh is a type of URL redirection process that works on page level not on server level and may cause slowing down your page speed and interrupt both user experience and organic search ranking. Meta refresh is used commonly with automated redirection process with countdown timer text for five seconds or more like “If you are not redirected in five seconds, click here.” Though Meta refresh passes some link juice but it’s not a recommended redirection process in terms of SEO.

Impacts of 404 Error Pages to your Site

A 404 error page cannot adversely impact your site’s SEO but can generate poor user experience to searchers and may lose you potential conversions rate and sales.

Google recommends webmasters to intelligently deal with 404 error pages and keep up site’s user experience optimum always by redirecting a non-existing URL to an existing URL by using 301 moved permanently method rather trying 302 or Meta refresh processes.

Finding out Error Pages in Google Search Console

Google discovers content by following links from one page to another page that are submitted to Google’s directory by you or another user using Google search console. A not found status error code (generally a HTTP status code) is being returned when Googlebot attempts to visit a non-existing page—either because you deleted or renamed the permalink structure of the old URL but never redirected it to the new URL that lead to generate a 404 error status on your website.

You can find all the error status of your website in Google search console’s Crawl Errors section

To get this information access your Google search console account and navigate Crawl > Crawl Errors

Crawl errors
Crawl errors
URL Errors
URL Errors

You can see 3 types of error notifications

  • Server Error: Request timed out or site is blocking Google
  • Soft 404: The target URL doesn’t exist, but your server is not returning a 404 (file not found) error
  • Not found: URL points to a non-existing page.

Fixing 404 Error Status in WordPress

Thanks to advanced configuration system to WordPress .htaccess file that enables users to permanently move old URL to new URL by writing custom URL redirection code on .htaccess file that resides in root direction of your website server.

Either you can use any plugin to make 301 redirection of you’re not certain about writing on .htaccess file as playing wrong with this important file can lead your sites’ dangerous search ranking difficulties in future.

So as tutorial purpose I will show you both .htaccess and plugins methods to create 301 redirects in WordPress

Simple 301 Redirects

Simple 301 redirect works similar to the format of Apache uses, the request should be relative to your WordPress root. You can use either full URL to redirect to any page on the web, or relative to your WordPress root.

Make redirect - simply 301 redirects
Make redirect – simply 301 redirects

For example

Request: /something-about.html

Using Wildcards

Thanks to Simple 301 Redirects wildcards support meaning that you can redirect a folder containing all the URLs to a specific destination by putting an asterisk (*) after the folder name that you want to redirect.

Simple 301 redirects
Simple 301 redirects

Request: /search/label/*

After adding wildcards all the URLs in the format /search/label/ will be redirected to new location

Make sure you check Use Wildcards to enable wildcards functions with your 301 redirect

Redirection is a popular WordPress URL redirection plugin that provides plenty of useful features to manage 404 error pages, create 301 moved permanently URLs, track total hits of individual URL and overall improve your site’s performances.

This plugin is almost free to use and configuration process is very easy.

When you have downloaded and installed the plugin simply navigate Tools > Redirection

Now put Source URL as non-existing URL

Target URL as destination URL

Add new redirection - redirection
Add new redirection – redirection

Finally click “Add Redirection” and you have successfully made a 301 redirection

Yoast SEO Premium Redirects

Yoast SEO Premium comes with two useful features (1) Tracking multiple focus keywords per post (2) URL Redirection.

The URL redirection is most useful feature to me since I have used this plugin on this site and found it very handy.

To make URL redirection with Yoast SEO Premium you have to upgrade your Yoast plugin version from Free version to Premium version.

After upgrading navigate to SEO > Redirects

The URL redirection type is selected to 301 Moved Permanently so you don’t to make any change here

In Old URL field type you have to type old URL except your root domain URL

301 moved permanently - yoast SEO
301 moved permanently – yoast SEO

Old URL: something-about.html
URL: about/

After that click “Add Redirect” and you’ve successfully redirected the old URL permanently to new URL

301 Redirects using .htaccess file

Creating 301 redirects by writing redirection code on .htaccess file is advanced but very fast step for moving your Old URLs to New URLs permanently.

This process should be followed by code experts or tech savvy otherwise if you’re newbie you may make typing mistakes and your entire .htaccess file may create interruption in accessibility by search engines and your permalinks won’t work properly.

Anyway to create 301 redirects by writing redirection code on .htaccess you have to access your .htaccess file which resides in your website’s root directory.

Before to edit .htaccess file make sure you back it up and saved on your computer desktop or another location for safe side.

You can edit .htaccess file by using File manager, FTP client software (Filezilla) and using Yoast SEO tools.

Change to htaccess file - yoast seo
Change to htaccess file – yoast seo
# User added 301 Redirects
Redirect 301 /old-page.html
# End User added 301 Redirects

Be careful when you’re editing your .htaccess file, type the correct URL address don’t make any syntax error otherwise it will cause serious trouble.

So, do it with your own risk if you’re confident enough, otherwise use plugins to move old URLs to new URLs permanently.

Creating 301 redirects is important for every WordPress user since 404 error page is normal phenomena and you can’t certainly control over all the inbound and outbound links to your site so you have to be ready to make 301 redirects for those URLs that matter your site’s ranking power and flow link juice.

Rich Snippets is a Google’s term to display enhanced search results (snippets) with information form microformats from pages enabled with structured data markup. Google launched Rich Snippets in May 12, 2009 when Rich snippets was about rolling in and supported only two  markup data for Reviews and People in search results. After that Google developers added more possibilities in rich snippets including Review, Product, Recipe, Article, Event, Video, Software application and more.

Google rich snippets can be easily configured with WordPress installing and activating a simple plugin (All in One Rich Snippets) that can enable structured markup data tags with your pages and display enhanced search results.

In this tutorial I will discuss about Rich Snippets and Snippets types and Rich snippets configuration with WordPress.

What is Rich Snippets?

Rich Snippets is a structured data markup embedded in a webpage helps Google algorithms to better index and understand your content and display detailed information about your products and services in organic search results in response to user’s specific search terms.

Google introduced Rich Snippets in May 12, 2009 through an announcement on their official webmaster central blog when Rich snippet was about rolling in and supported data for reviews and people only. The purpose of displaying Rich Snippets in search results is to provide more convenient summery information to the users also increase Click through rate to the website that is enabled with structured markup data.

Rich Snippet
Rich Snippet that shows search results for a movie, including review stars, an aggregate rating value, and vote count — very useful to anyone searching for information about this movie.

When searching for product or service, users can easily see information like reviews, and ratings about the product and when searching for a person, they’ll get help distinguishing between people with the same name.

To display Rich Snippets, Google always looks for structured markup data (microformats and RDFa) that you can easily embed on your webpage at the beginning <head> section of your page with some additional tags.

For example a Yelp’s review page for “Drooling Dog BarBQ” can be shown adding following markup data in HTML page:

Now this with microformats marup

Or alternatively in RDFa markup data

Integrating standard annotations in your pages, you can make your structured data available to Google’s search results in addition to any service or tool that supports the same standard.

Types of Rich Snippets

To display Rich Snippets in search results your pages must be eligible for Rich snippets with appropriate structured data for your content. Your structured data must be validated and comply with any policies that each type has regarding Rich snippet display.

Google supports following Rich Snippets data types:

Google Rich Snippets for products help merchants to provide detailed product information (regarding price, availability, and review ratings) that Google can use to display in Rich Snippets right on their search results. Using markup to enable rich snippets lets you attract potential buyer while they’re searching for specific product to buy on Google and control your product information.
